GUEST ARTIST AT KENDALL ART GALLERY
The San Angelo Art Club is proud to exhibit "Special Treasures- Works of Helen Rector" with an Opening Artist Reception Saturday, October 2, 2pm till 4pm, at the Kendall Art Gallery, 119 West 1st Street, San Angelo. Helen Rector is a 92 young self-taught artist who began her career with oils in the fifties. She and her husband, Lester, moved to San Angelo in 1953, where she studied art under Tincey Heddins and at the San Angelo Junior College. In the sixties she turned to the palette knife and started experimenting with acrylics and tissue paper as well as oils. Color drenched abstracts were created and whimsical chickens and elephants appeared. Her landscapes and still lifes show her gift of seeing the many colors that are in nature and the boldness of her work speaks of her love of life. Helen Rector's art work will be on display Saturday, October 2 thru October 30. The public is invited to attend the Opening Artist Reception at the Kendall and all art lovers should see this variety of art by an exceptional woman. Gallery hours: Wednesdays, 9am - 1pm, Saturdays, 10am - 4pm and Sundays, 1pm - 4pm. Admission is free, donations are gratefully accepted.

The San Angelo New Folk Concert Series
… Daniel Makins brings nationally known, award-winning songwriters to San Angelo in an intimate, professional, non-smoking, "listening" environment. Please invite friends and help Daniel continue this series. If you have not experienced one of these shows you are missing out! The room at Emmanuel sounds fantastic. Please do not let the church association cause hesitation. This is a secular event open to all. This is an ideal venue for truly listening to great artists. My guests, generally, have never heard of San Angelo before and quite possibly may never be in San Angelo again! Thanks very much for supporting this series.
